Family Picture Adventures

Well, family pictures came again. We try to get photos of me big and huge. So we had a family picture planned today, and just by chance got some cute sailor outfits for the kids. I had it all planned. I found near matching dresses for me and Josie. Then I figure the boys will just wear white polos and tan shorts. Well, I started to get the clothing together about 11am for 12:45 pictures. I knew our dresses needed to be ironed. Come to find out Asher's tan shorts were totally dirty. So I rushed them to the washer, then the dryer....alone. In our hurry out the door we forgot them. So I was all upset. I plan so much for pictures because I am sentimental and want it to be just right. So the challenge was getting a picture of Asher without his shorts in the picture. This is the one we chose.

Then we hurried and got the kids in their sailor outfits. And I was totally thinking this was something on the side. But it was the hit. Both kids tried on their outfits, but the hat I didn't try on. I figured it was either too big, too small or he wouldn't keep it on. But he put it on and he saw himself and just beamed. Showed everyone his hat. Here are a couple of the best ones:

Aren't they just the cutest?

Before these sailor shots the photographer said she was going to get a "Happy Helper". Two young guys came and Josie just went blank. Almost like she had a mental condition. So I pulled her to the side and she said she didn't like the guy. So I just came out and said, "She doesn't like you." So the lady switched and the guy took the pictures and we got smiles. Phew! I got nervous because Asher was all lit up and Josie wouldn't smile.

And tonight Dave and I had our first date night in 2 years. What happened 2 years ago. Well, I was hugely pregnant with Asher. Then the in between years I never feel safe leaving a nursling with anyone.

I had surprised Dave and wrote a note on the back of his Anniversary card that I had this date night set up. It was to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse...his favorite. I even set up the childcare well in advance. So we had a great meal. Dave claimed their salad was the best he has ever had. Then we spent an hour or 2 at my friends house, the Parkers, to talk about stuff. So that was nice to talk with them.

What a good day.
