The Abraham Lincoln Museum

Here are some photos of our recent trip to the Abraham Lincoln Museum in Springfield, IL. It was a great thing for us to see. We mildly introduced Josie to slavery. She was mostly interested in Mary Todd Lincoln's beautiful dresses. The experience was moving. They had a 4 minute movie about the Civil War and how the North slowly moved through the South to defeat them. In the lower right corner they had the death tolls mounting. Did you know it was nearly 1.5 million Americans died? Some people had tears in their eyes. They had many areas where we couldn't take pictures. But we saw Abe's hat. And the fan Mary carried the night Abe was killed. As well as his gloves. All with blood still on them. It was interesting seeing his 5 presidential photos and see how he aged in such a short time. Even the difference between the 1st and 3rd were very telling. We learned pretty much his entire life story. And to think he was assassinated by a man that was fearing he would give blacks the right to vote. It just seemed like he was such a visionary and it was all ended too soon.

BTW, Asher was not harmed in his trip to the Abe Lincoln Museum. He was just acting like a 2 year old.
