Watch out for the Woolly Bears!!!

Today our family went to the YMCA for Josie and Asher's swimming class. We stopped at Super WalMart for a grocery shopping adventure. Then on the way home. It was quiet in the car. So I asked Dave, "Do you ever dodge the black woolly bears that are racing across the road?" He kind of looked at me with a, "Huh?" I said, "Do you even see the black woolly bears that are crossing the road? There are a lot of them." You would think with a newborn, 2 yr old and 4 yr old I would be the distracted one and not notice them. There are a lot of them if you look!

Well, Dave played it off like he sees them all the time. I said, "Yeah right. At 60mph you only get a half a second to react because they come into view about 10 feet ahead of you." He claimed some eagle eyes that sees all of them and dodges all of them. So I started pointing them out to him. He didn't see them. Claiming the curves in the road and the car in front of us were his main concern. He said, "Yeah, what we would tell USAA (our insurance company) about dodging a woolly bear and totaling our car?" He still didn't see them. And I know he killed one.

Near home he totally swerved to dodge a small piece of leaf. That was funny. Not a woolly bear Mr. Eagle Eyes.

So I went online to find a black woolly bear to share with you what they look like. I found this most interesting article. A Woolly Bear Festival. How fun?!? Where I am from we used to have Bean Day, but this sounds so much more fun. I wish I had that Woolly Bear costume for Halloween!
