Dave was stuck for almost 24 hours in Cologne, Germany. A plane part had broken. They hung out for a couple hours to see if it could be fixed, but then they were put up at a hotel. He got some refreshing sleep and good breakfast and saw a beautiful cathedral. He also commented on how much sand he got out of his ears. With all the sandstorms I guess a ton get caught in the ears. So hopefully he got rid of all his grossness in Germany.
So, Josie was all fussy last night. One of the many benefits of co-sleeping is still parenting while you are sleeping. She was grunting, groaning and tossing about. I felt her cheeks and they were very hot. So I asked her how she was and she said her head hurt. So I got her some Motrin and about an hour later she was cooler. She said her ears hurt this morning with the second dose so I got her in right away. She just finished antibiotics a week ago. Well, her ears are fine. She does have another UTI. In Mid-July she has a follow up to her bladder test of last year and I bet they will have her do it again. I fear she may need surgery. I never did take her temp at home with no medications, but with both Motrin and Tylenol it was 100.3 at the doctor's office. She says it doesn't hurt when she goes to the bathroom, but maybe it has hurt all her life. She still complains of a headache.
Asher also is fussy with 4 eye teeth coming in. It is usually a huge battle to get medicine in him. But before we left for Wally World this morning he took it right down. I just talked to him about why he was upset and asked if his teeth hurt in his mouth. I told him the medicine would help him feel better. He reached for it and did it "Big Boy Style" as we call it. Victory for Mama!
So we got home and Dave's boss's exec had left me a message with an update of Dave's whereabouts. He is on the plane from Cologne and will arrive in Baltimore at 5:55am. Then is scheduled to leave at 9:30 and gets into St. Louis at 2:05. That is better than the 8:35pm that we last heard about.
Dave did say that they had a couple hours layover in Ireland. The Air Force guys have a way of having their planes break in cool places so hopefully all goes well there. He thought that the layover may be able to be cut down, but I won't count on it. If he can get home earlier that would be great. If not, we will so be ready at 2:05.
The kids get their haircut at 11am. Then we will have lunch somewhere. And then off to the airport. I am so excited. This has been just too long for him to be away from us.
